It sounds like I’d have to read it for myself to judge, but to be honest I’ve never really had any interest at all in reading IT. I started once like eight years ago, but it just didn’t interest me, and I found the gay bashing-as-plot device in the prologue or whatever really distasteful. This conversation is not exactly making me eager to give it a second shot. XD
I’ve always thought Stephen King was weird about sex. Not in a hang-up sort of way, I think you’re right about that. Just. I’m not sure how to describe it, really. It just feels weird, the way he uses it in his stories.
Gosh he wrote that in the eighties where gay people weren’t really a thing. >.o But he’s always seemed accepting of it even if he uses it as a plot device. Not that he’s perfect. Just better than a lot of writers out there.
I’d like to think he wouldn’t use those things as a plot device now.
